This Technical Brief highlights the importance and benefits for communities and UNICEF of leveraging and linking Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA), using examples and good practice from over 15 UNICEF country offices and with input from AAP and PSEA specialists based in UNICEF Headquarters, regions, and countries.

It is part of a series of AAP Technical Briefs and is intended for other UNICEF country offices interested in building greater synergy between the work on AAP and PSEA, including country leadership (Representatives and Deputy Representatives), AAP and PSEA focal points, and others contributing to these agendas.

Section 2 outlines the rationale for forging synergies between AAP and PSEA. Sections 3–7 dive into specific practices where AAP and PSEA can be leveraged and linked, with a focus on participation, information provision/communication, and complaints and feedback handling.
